This has been one of the popular cases in India. Since last year October, it was spotted that few nurses were stranded in UAE. The victimized nurses are mostly from the southern part of India. This news has spread terror and affected many families in India
The case:
The nurses were being promised job offers in UAE’s popular vaccination centers. When the nurses (both men and women) are reaching UAE, they find out that they have Visitor’s visa only. However, they are getting stranded because they don’t have a work visa to continue working. There will be no value in staying if they don’t have the license to work. As per the rules of the ministry of external affairs, recruits for overseas jobs need immigration clearance that is created on the government eMigrate Portal. The emigration process is cleared before entering the country.

- Licenses
Around 300 people from South India have been duped into fake job offers. However, since last week, numerous companies have stood up for them. As nurses require a work license, many hospitals in UAE will recruit nurses as patient aides and service assistants until they get a license. Top management of many hospitals stated that they tried to recruit as many nurses as possible when they heard about the scam. Many hospitals are helping them to get the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licenses for further employment opportunities.
- Placement
Many healthcare groups are coming forward to help these nurses. The list of stranded nurses is decreasing day by day. Many renowned healthcare institutions are in support of the nurses. The worst part is that many nurses used to work in famous hospitals in South India. They left a better career and family for better opportunities. Many hospitals are encouraging invitations from individuals with a Bachelor’s degree of Science and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) degree with a minimum of two years of experience.
- Recruitment agencies
Many nurses have less than two years of experience. They have been given equal assurance as many hospitals reviewing their resumes. As of now, many hospitals are not giving a guarantee on their placements. Therefore, many healthcare institutes are trying their best to find an alternative.

Why did the scam happen?
Precisely, the scam happened because of money. This is a common scenario in many countries. Taking the advantage of the dire unemployment situation, people are posting unrealistic fake jobs. Similarly, few scammers or leading recruitment agencies in UAE put up job vacancies for vaccination and testing centers in UAE. The recruiters gave 100000Dh for giving money to the immigration authorities. When they reached the spot, the same amount of money was taken by local agents as commission. Such unscrupulous acts left them stranded for a long time period. This matter has gone into legal hands and the case is under surveillance.

This is high time that we get serious. Scammers are everywhere. We have to be careful while applying for jobs. Proper research is the best way to a good career.
